As the industry leader in property management, and a very strong presence with green buildings, Dexus Property were looking at WELL initiatives to challenge stress and improve mental health.

As the industry leader in property management, and a very strong presence with green buildings, Dexus Property were looking at WELL initiatives to challenge stress and improve mental health.

Dexus formalised five WELL communities, to roll out this experiment to stimulate change. The culture was already strong and what it was looking for was empowerment, especially for Gen Y and Millenials.

The five communities focused on: diversity and inclusion; mind, body and nutrition; workplace and social; professional development; recognition.

Dexus Property engaged EQ Consulting Co to work alongside the Mind, Body and Nutrition Committee to deliver the Mindfulness program. The main objectives were to:

  • Have a mentally well workforce
  • Learn coping tools to decrease stress, anxiety and burnout
  • Learn strategies to improve focus, memory and productivity
  • Collaborate Dexus employees across the business

Solution.

We launched a Mindfulness and Productivity program as a transformational 8 - week experience. It featured:

  • Cross-functional engagement that brought together colleagues from different business sectors
  • A focus on accountability and how to build resilience to change
  • An ongoing mindfulness practice, that equipped professionals with a tool kit for work and life
  • A pre and post survey to measure the tangible impact of the program

Results.

In total 50 people from the Sydney office participated in the Mindfulness program in 2016. 

The consistent 8 week project was a key element for success, which had numerous spin-off benefits, from improving staff productivity and retention.

The post-program was very positive, Dexus Property hired EQ Consulting again in 2017, to create a workforuce who are calm, connected and equipped to be healthy leaders.
